“Each moment of the year has its own beauty, a picture which was never seen before and which shall never be seen again”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
That phrase has guided Sue’s career both as a fine art photographer and in the commercial world. Nature tells its story through the camera lens. Images are sometimes bold and abstract, sometimes moody and gentle or whimsical in their interpretation. Whether it is a rocky coastline, the glory of the Canadian autumn or a misty lake or river, images often take on an impressionistic quality that allows the viewer’s imagination to enter in and participate.
For several years Sue taught the art of photography and audio visual techniques at Seneca College. She also assisted Budd Watson in many of the field trips from his studio. Her business, Studies in Light specialized in printmaking from both negatives and transparencies up to 4’x8’, supplying the Oshawa Foods Group with interior photo décor in over 120 stores, both corporate and franchise.
Sue has been a member of Toronto Focal Forum since 1986 and has judged numerous competitions for camera clubs, including the international salons hosted by Toronto Camera Club. Sue has given many workshops for camera clubs, charitable organizations and photographic conferences at community colleges and universities.
Sue is now producing images both digitally and from film and all printing is archival. Her images can be viewed at her studio in Honey Harbour.
