I've spent the majority of my career at the tail end of photography...the print side. I was lucky enough to see the first large format inkjet on the market. It was a line drawing device and from there I had the need to see how I could print large photos/images. I quickly deciphered this and sent the formula down to the manufacturer who quickly sent this around the world. It was the beginning of the large format graphics printers.
Several years later I started with HP Marketing and met Ed Burtynsky and the dedicated members behind the Contact Photography Festival. I spent many years with them as the primary sponsor. We brought in Joel Meyorwitz and several Magnum Photographers to help grow the festival to the size it is today. Once it became too large we passed the torch to Scotia Bank.
My next adventure was helping the Peterbourough SPARK Photography Festival. I am still a member of their Juried Exhibit Committee and enjoy seeing the festival grow year after year. They are heading into their 7th year.
After moving to the Barrie area it was time to find another adventure so FOCUS on SIMCOE was born.
I have spent many years helping with various festivals across Canada. Seeing the images created from a lens has always been exciting to me. I picked up my first film camera in my teens and have continued to grow my experience as a hobbyist.
I am now sharing this passion with the South Simcoe 4-H Photography Club as a leader. These are youth that range in age from 9-16yrs old. Some shooting with tablets and others with more expensive cameras. All of them are enjoying the learning experience.
